 Throughout the evening, guests will be given several ways to contribute to our worthy cause, including a raffle, a live auction, direct sponsorship, and via the purchase of hand-made baskets weaved by the women of South Africa. 

All proceeds from this event will go to support the Umbono Project, a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization whose objective is to provide food, clean water, medical care, education, and economic development for the people of South Africa affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

A Christmas Carol

Event details:

Theatre In The Park’s original musical comedy adaptation of A Christmas Carol, based on the book by Charles Dickens and adapted for the stage by Ira David Wood III, first premiered in 1974. It has been performed each year since, and has become the theatre’s major fundraiser. Approximately 30,000 people attend the local production run in Raleigh, North Carolina. 2010 Performance Dates and Times: Wednesday, December 8 – (7 PM) – PECPA

A Winter’s Tale

Methodist Home for Children will be hosting its 13th annual charity gala, “A Winter’s Tale,” at the Raleigh Convention Center.  An evening that benefits Methodist Home for Children, this black tie affair will honor individuals and organizations committed to children, youth and families and will feature a live and silent auction, an elegant dinner, dancing and a keynote address by celebrated sports writer, Don Yaeger.  Matt Holiday will be the auctioneer for the evening.

With 16 books to his credit, including four that made the New York Times best-seller list, Don Yeager has spent his career writing about our generation’s most celebrated athletes.  As a former Sports Illustrated associate editor, Don has witnessed the personal and professional struggles of many famous athletes, and he knows how faith and perseverance can overcome adversity and lead to greatness.

RACE FOR LIFE Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Dates Upcoming

For the 30th year, the American Bicycle Association (ABA) will be holding Race For Life events throughout the country to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).  Since the inception of the ABA Race For Life series in 1981, BMX riders and tracks have raised more than $3.6 million in support of LLS’s mission.  View the 2010 schedule .  The races begain in 1981 in memory of Todd Kingsbury, a young BMX rider from Michigan.  Learn more .

Spike for A Cause August 28 to benefit Striving for More

Spike for A Cause

The City of Raleigh Parks & Recreation Department, vh1vball.com and the Wake County Volleyball Club are sponsoring the 5th annual charity volleyball tournament to benefit Striving for More. The Event will take place on Saturday, August 28th at Jaycee Park in Raleigh and consists of teams of 4 players on both grass and sand.

Last year, more than 60 teams registered to play. They hope to exceed that total this year to make it the most successful event ever. Register online to participate in the event.

Art for Haiti – Art Auction and Gala – April 10

Live and Silent Auction ~ This is a great opportunity for art appreciators!  On Saturday, April 10 from 6p to 10p this event will be held at the Raleigh Convention Center located at 500 S.  Salisbury Street in Raleigh.   To start off the evening there will be a silent auction from 6-8 pm and reception with food generously donated by Centerplate Catering.  This Black Tie Event (optional) will also include a live auction of artwork from 8:30-9:30 that has been donated from artists around the country!
