Greek Festival to Benefit Habitat for Humanity September 17, 18 & 19 2010 –

Mark your Calendar for Sept 17~18~19 to experience Greek traditions and cuisine at the 29th Annual Greek Festival. The Festival is sponsored by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and portions of the proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. Live Greek music, traditional folk dancers perform, savory Greek entrees and pastries. Times of the Festival are: Friday September 17, 5 – 10 pm Saturday September 18, 11 am – 10 pm Sunday September 19, 11 am – 7 pm General Admission, $3; Seniors and Ages 13-18, $2; Children under 13 – Free

Easter Seals UCP 4th annual ‘Ride Without Limits’ Sept 18-19

Easter Seals UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) is gearing up for its 4th annual Ride Without Limits two-day cycling event from September 18 – 19th. This annual fundraiser benefits critical programs and services for children and adults with disabilities and reflects Easter Seals UCP’s mission by including riders of all levels and abilities.The event, which begins at Camp Kanata in Wake Forest, NC, takes cyclists through some of North Carolina’s most beautiful countryside’s. Riders can choose between a 38 mile, 64 mile, or 100 mile route.

Each entry requires a $35 registration fee and requests that each participant raise at least $250. The first 250 registrants will be provided lodging at Camp Kanata, all meals and an event t-shirt.

Opening Doors for Autism September 25 7pm

he second annual Opening Doors for Autism fundraiser is hosted in a local home that’s currently for sale. Each room is decorated by local furniture companies or decorators donating their time and expertise.

Last year’s event raised more than $30,000 to support the Autism Society. This year, the group hopes at least to match that number.

 The event also will feature a silent auction and an exhibition of pictures from local photographer Charles Gupton’s “The Impact of Autism” collection, with live music, food and drinks available for attendees.

Bowties for Bandaids Benefit – May 1

Bowties for Band-Aids is a gala evening to benefit WakeMed Children’s Hospital.  Co-sponsors of the event are Kisco Triangle Communities and the WakeMed Foundation.  The event will be held at Magnolia Glen on May 1st from 7:00pm – 11:00pm at Magnolia Glen, 5301 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, NC 27612, (919) 841-4747

Tickets to the event are $60 each or $100/couple. The evening’s events will include dinner, silent auction, beer and wine tasting rooms and open bars, dancing to two live bands, Unit 7 and The Rendevouz.  All proceeds will go directly to WakeMed Children’s Hospital, buy tickets today!

A Winter’s Tale

Methodist Home for Children will be hosting its 13th annual charity gala, “A Winter’s Tale,” at the Raleigh Convention Center.  An evening that benefits Methodist Home for Children, this black tie affair will honor individuals and organizations committed to children, youth and families and will feature a live and silent auction, an elegant dinner, dancing and a keynote address by celebrated sports writer, Don Yaeger.  Matt Holiday will be the auctioneer for the evening.

With 16 books to his credit, including four that made the New York Times best-seller list, Don Yeager has spent his career writing about our generation’s most celebrated athletes.  As a former Sports Illustrated associate editor, Don has witnessed the personal and professional struggles of many famous athletes, and he knows how faith and perseverance can overcome adversity and lead to greatness.

Homes of Distinction Tour to Benefit Make A Wish- Durham June 10-27th

On June 10th through June 27th plan to tour this Distinguished Address at 290 Royal Sunset Drive Durham, NC  27713  
 (Thursdays – Saturdays from 10am – 5pm, Sundays from Noon-5pm)

Rufty Homes and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina have come together to present the Homes of Distinction by Rufty Homes. This elegant home showcases the latest building products and design trends.  The home will be open for touring Thursdays-Sundays from June 10th through June 27th.  Tour hours will be 10am-5pm Thursdays – Saturdays and Noon-5pm on Sundays.  Patrons may tour the home for a $10 admission fee.  All proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish. 

This 10,300 sq. ft. home, located on a large wooded lot within a gated community, has family gathering areas on all three floors. An elegant curved staircase and balconies overlook the two-story living room. Marble flooring throughout the first floor living areas accentuate the open feel.
