2010 Chef’s Challenge for Meals on Wheels ~ Wake Co Sept 9th 5-7:30

Which chef can create the best meal? On September 9, 2010 we will find out.  Taking up the challenge are:

The Master of Ceremonies is Raleigh’s own Mark Roberts of Mark Roberts Enterprises, Inc.    Join us on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Competition begins at 6:00 p.m. – Garner TV & Appliance Showroom, North Raleigh Showroom at the Plantation Point Shopping Center, Raleigh, near the intersection of 540 and Capital Blvd.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and include hors d’oeuvres, 2 drinks, and 1 raffle ticket.

VOTE for your favorite chef by sending a donation to Meals on Wheels of Wake County.
The chef that receives the most donations to Meals on Wheels will receive the “People’s Choice” Award.     The Chef’s Challenge judges are:

LIVE AUCTION    Live auction during the competition! Each of the three dinners being prepared at the event will be offered during a live auction. The winning bids will receive dinner for four and will eat with the chef and one of the celebrity judges at the conclusion of the competition.        Other auction items include a plasma TV donated by Garner TV & Appliance, a premium racing package at Rush Hour Karting, and more.

RAFFLE ITEMS   We will also have a spectacular raffle, featuring dinner gift certificates, a deluxe coffee maker, spa packages, and more.

Pay-it-Foward Dinner Dance for Cancer Patients Sept 11 7 pm

Dinner and dancing at the lovely Renaissance Hotel in North Hills, Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010. All for a good cause: charity event for Pay-it-Forward, the Caring Community Foundation’s annual fundraiser to help defray expenses for cancer patients. This is the 10th annual Pay-it-Forward dinner dance. Mr. Potato Head is the band for the evening. There will be a silent auction as well as a live auction.

2010 A Pair To Remember to Benefit Wake Teen ~ Sept 17

 A Pair to Remember      is Wake Teen’s annual signature fundraiser and the Triangle’s favorite fashion forward event designed for ladies who lunch and for women to put their hearts and “soles” into enriching the lives of youth.

On Friday, September 17, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. -  Renaissance Hotel at North Hills Raleigh, NC transforms into the exclusive backdrop for an afternoon at “A Pair to Remember”. Ladies will have an opportunity to enjoy lighter finger foods, tarts, fruits and beverages as they browse A Pair’s exclusive silent auction featuring exquisite jewelry, spa services and destination & entertainment packages. Guests who purchase a spa ticket at the event will also get to indulge in special pampering including chair massage, mini-facials, etc while enjoying complimentary champagne while they shop.  Offering a sneak preview of their latest spring lines –  several exclusive clothing, shoe, fashion and jewelry boutiques will be on hand to create A Pair’s first ever Boutique Showcase !! Merchants from the Boutique Showcase will also produce a wonderful fashion show for our guests. In the spirit of the day, hand-picked models, teens that have benefitted from the programs and services of Wake Teen, will be spotlighted in the show along with the latest in spring fashions and shoes. Yes ladies, the A Pair’s popular male models will be returning this year to support Wake Teen as well as help the Boutiques showcase their items and insure that A Pair’s special live auction doesn’t get overlooked either!! Greek Festival to Benefit Habitat for Humanity September 17, 18 & 19 2010 –

Mark your Calendar for Sept 17~18~19 to experience Greek traditions and cuisine at the 29th Annual Greek Festival. The Festival is sponsored by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and portions of the proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. Live Greek music, traditional folk dancers perform, savory Greek entrees and pastries. Easter Seals UCP 4th annual ‘Ride Without Limits’ Sept 18-19

Easter Seals UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) is gearing up for its 4th annual Ride Without Limits two-day cycling event from September 18 – 19th. This annual fundraiser benefits critical programs and services for children and adults with disabilities and reflects Easter Seals UCP’s mission by including riders of all levels and abilities.The event, which begins at Camp Kanata in Wake Forest, NC, takes cyclists through some of North Carolina’s most beautiful countryside’s. Riders can choose between a 38 mile, 64 mile, or 100 mile route.

Each entry requires a $35 registration fee and requests that each participant raise at least $250. The first 250 registrants will be provided lodging at Camp Kanata, all meals and an event t-shirt.

The American Diabetes Association is the nation’s leading non-profit health organization providing research, information and advocacy efforts for children and adults with Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational diabetes.

Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes is the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising event. Please join us on September 25th, 2010 at TW Alexander Drive, RTP as we step out to fight diabetes.

Step Out is a family oriented 5k annual walk, powered by individuals from the community who are concerned for their health and the health of their loved ones. Step out and highlight your commitment to finding a cure.

2010 Womens Council of Realtors to Benefit Food Bank of NC Sat Sept 25 8-midnight

2010 Raleigh Women’s Council of REALTORS CASINO ROYALE EVENT  will be held on Saturday September 25 from 8 -Midnight.  Enjoy an exciting evening of Monty Carlo Style and casino gaming.  Entry includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, two drinks, 500 in “gaming coupons.  Fabulous Prizes ranging from dining to massage, golf packages and more!

A portion of the proceeds benefit theFood Bank of Central & Eastern NC,  a non-profit organization that provides food to people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in Central & Eastern North Carolina.  The Women’s Council of REALTORS members are active in the community through events, fundraisers and education.

Opening Doors for Autism September 25 7pm

he second annual Opening Doors for Autism fundraiser is hosted in a local home that’s currently for sale. Each room is decorated by local furniture companies or decorators donating their time and expertise.

Last year’s event raised more than $30,000 to support the Autism Society. This year, the group hopes at least to match that number.

 The event also will feature a silent auction and an exhibition of pictures from local photographer Charles Gupton’s “The Impact of Autism” collection, with live music, food and drinks available for attendees.

CHERUBS Masquerading Angels Ball Sat, Oct 30 7-midnight

CHERUBS- The Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Awareness and Support.    Money raised will fund services to further help families of children born with this congential disease.  For details go to: http://www.cherubsangelball.org/

The event will be held on Oct 30th from 7-midnight at Hilton Durham at 3800 Hillsborough Rd.  Tickets are $50.00 and include  event entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, 2 raffle tickets, 1 bar ticket, 2 casino chips.  The Attire is FORMAL black and whitemasquerade ball  and  men are encouraged to wear tuxedos and women to wear white.  Dust off your wedding dresses ladies or you can opt for a black dress,  but it must be floor length.   Masks are required, some will be provided.   Not acceptible; typical Halloween costumes, short dresses, street clothes and scary masks.  Have your formal portrait taken, a reminder of a wonderful night by Jim Shaw Photography.
